One big question Jaguars GM Trent Baalke must ask himself as he preps for 2024 offseason
USA TODAY Sports

The Jaguars barely missed the playoffs last season in what was a heartbreaking last few games of the year. However, after some changes to the defensive staff, bringing in Ryan Nielsen, it feels like this team could find its way back to the top of the AFC South. It won't be easy, but it's possible.

First, they have to address the elephant in the room: The contracts of Josh Allen and Calvin Ridley and several other key players. These difficult decisions have to be made. They are important for the future of the Jaguars.

Once they can put together a roster that is somewhat better than last season's, they can be ready to re-take the AFC South. Then, there is one other thing that they have to do. This is where Baalke must start asking the big questions.

Jaguars' Trent Baalke needs to ask one big question

It's pretty clear who runs not only the AFC but also the NFL right now. It's the Kansas City Chiefs, as they are officially a dynasty. They are a team that it's pretty clear will be competing for a Super Bowl as long as Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes are there. That is the team to beat.

So, the question Baalke needs to ask himself is what he needs to do with his team to make them a team that can compete with the Chiefs. That's who everyone is chasing, and it's no secret. The Jaguars have to make sure they are putting themselves in the best position to reach the Chiefs, as cliche as that sounds.

Luckily, the Jaguars already have their quarterback situation sorted out because that will likely be the one thing they can rely on the most.
