Steelers' Najee Harris Begging For In-House Rule Changes Following Playoff Loss
Mark Koneznyi-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers' Wild Card playoff game against the Buffalo Bills ended in disappointment, marking the culmination of a rollercoaster season. Steeler Nation had held high hopes for their team, in no small part due to the impressive performances of running back Najee Harris in the lead-up to the matchup. Harris had been on a tear, showcasing his running prowess and finding the end zone with consistency.

However, the Bills managed to contain Harris's explosiveness, limiting his impact on the game. Harris finished the game with just 12 carries going for 37 yards.

Steelers' Najee Harris Calls For Change

After the loss, Harris engaged with members of the Steelers media to reflect on the defeat and express his thoughts on the need for changes within the organization.

Harris emphasized that he was not referring to coaching changes, but rather in-house rule adjustments. He stressed the importance of discipline and commitment, acknowledging that these qualities needed improvement. Harris believed that the Steelers were a talented team, but saw room for growth in specific areas.

“In-house rules, not like changes in the coaching or anything like that. It’s just the rules that are in the building. We have to be more disciplined. We have to be more committed. I’m not saying that we aren’t.”

Harris made it very clear that his comments were not directed at any members of the coaching staff. He also made it clear that if the Steelers want to start winning these postseason games, they have to be much more disciplined.

“Just seeing like we probably could get help in these areas and just make a change. That’s something that could help. I’m not saying anything about coaches or anything like that.”

He reiterated twice that his remarks were unrelated to coaches, indicating his desire for a more serious and dedicated atmosphere within the locker room. In this context, it's reasonable to infer that he's referring to his fellow teammates, rather than the coaching staff. Given that he excluded coaches from his comments, it leaves little room for interpretation – the focus of his remarks is evidently on his fellow players.

As the Steelers embark on their offseason journey, they find themselves in the unenviable position of being spectators to the remainder of the playoffs, with Harris's plea for in-house rule adjustments resonating throughout the organization.

The upcoming offseason promises to be a captivating one for Steelers fans, filled with uncertainty and important decisions on the horizon. The most prominent topic of debate will revolve around the quarterback situation, with discussions and speculations surrounding the future of Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph. Additionally, the persistent rumors concerning Mike Tomlin's coaching future continue to circulate, leaving fans eager for clarity on his intentions.

For Steeler Nation, the offseason represents a time of anticipation and hope. They eagerly await the developments within the organization that will shape the team's future. This period allows fans to reflect on the past season, absorb the lessons learned, and look forward to what the franchise will bring in the coming year.

Unfortunately, Steelers fans didn't have the opportunity to witness Harris shine as much as they would have liked during the Wild Card playoff game. The contest quickly spiraled out of control, forcing the team to deviate from its gameplan in an effort to catch up.

Despite the challenges faced in the game, Harris managed to achieve the remarkable feat of recording his third consecutive 1,000-yard rushing year in the regular season, further solidifying his status as a cornerstone of the team's future success. As another impressive season for Harris comes to a close, Steelers fans can take solace in the prospect of his continued excellence on the field.
